Some of the most grounded, doctrinally correct, detailed, accurate and loving, sincere preaching/teaching I have ever heard. Highest recommendation. A very down to earth guy with zero pretentions and no mind games or psychological trickery. Pre-trib premillennial and the goods to back that up BTW.

Thank you for that information. I was very moved by the movie. Keith Green came out of that movement I believe, he was a dynamic singer and preacher. I will check the link.

I'm talking about youth that don't have Christian parents. I'm talking about the youth of today. How do we reach out to them. Because most churches are not even trying to reach them.

I would say that what attracted me to Jesus in the first place was that he acted and did things differently from the rest of the world.
I'm not talking about his powers of God but Personality charm.

The Bible says we should be more as Jesus.

I do not know for sure. It is just beginning to play in theaters in America. Maybe it could be online or certain tv apps.

Time even wrote an article about the amazing amount of young people that were baptized and came to the Lord during this time. So the movie shows a typical church and pastor and hippies lining up to come to church and how that was perceived by the church members. I'll leave it there in case you choose to see the movie.

As the young "seekers" explore drugs and other things to get a high, one of them says "there is no truth". And that hit me rather hard because my 18yr old nephew and I were talking this weekend and he said the same thing. We don't usually talk on the phone, but got into some deep conversation and it gripped my heart when he said that. He was raised in church, his parents are Christians, his grandparents, but one, are Christians same with aunts and uncles. Yet talking to him he seemed to have a lot of distrust, a fatalistic view of the world, like there is no truth or control. I gently corrected him that God is truth and he conceded enough to say truth was hidden and that God was in control but it didn't see clear to me he believed that.

The thing is I know this is the feeling of the youth today. And I'm wondering how we cross this gap and reach out to this confused and lost generation. They literally don't know what gender they are. How do we reach them? They are looking for love, hope, a place to belong. How can we show the love of God to a young transgender, to a young homosexual, to a confused youth? That's why the Asbury Revival was so important. The youth of today have been lied to, they feel they cannot trust anyone or anything. And the last place they would think to turn to is the church. In fact I would think most would think the church hates them.

Where is our outreach, to the youth or just people of any age? As a church how are you reaching out? If you don't attend a church, how do you personally try to reach the lost? I heard an interesting song years ago and it would do well here. It's called If We are the Body. I will just share a few lines.


But if we are the body
Why aren't his arms reaching?
Why aren't his hands healing?
Why aren't his words teaching?
And if we are the body
Why aren't his feet going?
Why is his love not showing them
There is a way, there is a way

So I'd love to have a discussion about how we reach this generation for Jesus and have another revolution. Any thoughts to share?

I meant chuck smith several times back in the day. Ive meant greg lori and gale erwin, bill gallentin was my pastor for 6 yrs. Ray viola also skip heitzig. All are from pastor chuck church.
Been waiting to see the movie. Heard so many stories from the pastors about how calvary chapel came to be.

Oh wow, then you really will enjoy the movie! I would say the actors did a great job of playing the real people. I found it very moving and I could tell people around me felt the same way.

Interesting take... There could be a deeper discussion here. But I'm really asking about those outside the church and how we reach them. But I'm willing to see where you are headed with this. Are you talking about the church establishment? So called, so I guess you're talking about name only Christians...

Then why post if you don't want to discuss what you said? The subject is the Jesus Revolution of the 70s. So I'm waiting on you to expand on what you said. Why are you upset when you were the one who posted? Otherwise your comment doesn't make sense.

Many of todays youth are disillusioned by the constant negativity in the news, TV, movies, and social media. Seems every generation has a tipping point.

When someone says to me, There is no truth,” I simply ask- are you saying nothing is true, yet you want me to believe your statement is true? If that is correct then everyone’s opinion is equally valid.

Many have been told the Bible has been manipulated. I point out that Polycarp was a student of the apostle John, and he wrote many letters. There are enough letters written by him and his early associates before the canon of Scripture was fixed, and that all but about 11 verses of the NT are contained in those many early writings, before Constantine met.

WE need to relate truth and Scripture to our lives and theirs, before their eyes can see.

Im very curious as to what happened. Hundreds of thousands of people "came to Christ" in the 70s in southern California, yet that area has become very anti christian.

I wish someone had or would do a follow up on those people and see where they are today. Are they still in church serving the Lord or what happened. I was born in the 70s and I recall lots of young people coming in to church in the late 70s.

And somehow in the 80s and 90s all these phonie balogna tv guys are gozillionairs shovelling horse manure in place of the gospel.
