This is not about the Gaza war, but it interesting to look at a map of the land originally promised to Abraham. It includes part of Syria, Lebanon, what is now Gaza, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Iraq, part of Sudan, Eritrea and a part of Egypt. Modern Israel occupies a relatively small portion of that land. The rest is occupied by their enemies, apart from Egypt.

Israel never occupied the land fully. Solomon was the most successful. It all fell to pieces after his death and only a remnant remained. Israel was ruled by Gentile nations from that time on. There was a 100 year period when Israel drove out the occupiers. Rome took care of that.

What has this to do with us? God's word tells us that Christians have an inheritance. (Ephesians 1:18). Paul prayed that Christians would come to know what that is. As we discover the glorious inheritance that Jesus gives us, we need to learn to live accordingly. I read a report of a wealthy woman who died of malnutrition. She lived in squalor in a fancy Melbourne suburb. She had a fortune in the bank but never accessed it. There is nothing noble about extreme poverty. It's even worse when it unnecessary.

Many Christians live a sub par life. Spiritually, we have everything we could want or need for abundant, joyful and peaceful life. We should be living above circumstances. We should realise that troubles in our lives is normal and simply stepping stones to lead us into the Kingdom of God.

Israel failed to occupy the land that God gave them. Israel could have had the riches of Saudi Arabia, complete control of the Red Sea and be the most powerful nation on earth. Why did Israel fail so spectacularly?

God warned Israel of the consequences of rebellion, compromise and idolatry. The people agreed to the covenant of blessing and cursing. While Israel followed the law and commandments, God blessed them. When they turned away, all too often, they were cursed. The enemies they were supposed to defeat instead defeated Israel.

Christians, by which I mean those who are born again, make decisions all through their lives. Even those who do not choose are choosing not to choose. There is in reality no fence to sit on. The Christian life practically begins when the Christian consecrates himself fully and unconditionally to the will and purpose of God. God respects our free will.

Our lives should be changing as we go on in Christ. I am not the same person that I was 50 years ago. And everyone who knew me back then is delighted. I needed to change! Jesus came to set the captives free. Jesus gives us victory over sin, self, Satan and the world system. The question is, will we avail ourselves of this great salvation, or will we be like the sad woman, rich but living like a pauper?

Sometime I will continue this to expand on the principles of spiritual growth. For now, those who struggle do yourselves a favour. Quit trying to be something God has already made you to be. Rest in the finished work of Jesus through His death and resurrection. It's all to be found in God's word. It is like a vast mansion, full of amazing treasures, waiting to be explored and appropriated. But as with Israel, it is not automatic.

We should learn from Israel's rebellion against the Mosaic Law as an example of what we should avoid doing, not as an example for us to emulate (1 Corinthians 10:1-13),

Self control and discipline is a big one.. but this need not be as the world has it in self empowerment.. the ego... But sacrificing self for Jesus' best.

It's opposite to the way the western world is going . Also the Eastern ..seeing that their religions are mostly about the self also. So it is a hard road..but the spiritual rewards are beyond compare to what the world gives.

For myself, I gotta rest in Christ to put an end to internet addiction. It just steals so much joy in Christ.

Not even you follow the Mosaic law. Nobody can. Nor should you pretend otherwise. Shame on
you for doing so. Nor is the Mosaic law written on anyone's heart. Shame on you for saying so.

**Mosaic law = 613 Mitzvot according to Soyeong

You mention the Mosaic law a lot. What do you mean by it? 10 commandments? Or 613 Mitzvot?

God's word tells us that Christians have an inheritance. (Ephesians 1:18). Paul prayed that Christians would come to know what that is.
We need to distinguish between present reality and future blessings. The Bible says that we are ALREADY blessed with all spiritual blessings in Christ. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: (Eph 1:3). Please notice "hath" is in the past tense. And because we have all spiritual blessings in Christ we need not be controlled by circumstances, and can be overcomers.

On the other hand the inheritance of the saints is reserved in heaven for the future. To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you (1 Peter 1:4) But it would seem that our inheritance is related to that fact that all things are ours in Christ. Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours; Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are yours; And ye are Christ's; and Christ is God's. (1 Cor 3:21-23)

These are staggering thoughts. Why would God give all things to the saints? It is all because "ye are in Christ" and "Christ is God's".

In Deuteronomy 30:11-20, it says that the Mosaic Law is not too difficult for us to follow and that following it brings life and a blessing while not following it brings death and a curse, so choose life! So it was presented as a possibility and as a choice not as something that no one can do. Moreover, Romans 10:5-10 references Deuteronomy 30:11-20 as the word of faith that we proclaim. So believing that we can follow it is a matter of putting our faith in God's word and there is no shame in doing that. In Jeremiah 31:33, it states the New Covenant involves God putting the Mosaic Law in our minds and writing it on our hearts, and there is no shame in quoting that verse. However, there is shame in you interpreting God's word as speaking against obeying God's word.

Yes. That is precisely the point I was trying to make. At some point I will expand on how the believer can enter into the blessings that belong to us.

I am with you. Our limited capacity has a hard time grasping these truth's! I love this subject though. We don't get to talk about it much.

I believe at the moment of salvation we have every temporal gift and blessing at our finger tips to advance in His plan for us(in time.) And bible doctrine( growing in His grace and knowledge) lets us tap into those resources. I believe that is why it is so vital for us to study His word. line upon line, precept upon precept. That's why I say every new believer should FULL STOP and sit for 2 years and study under his/her right pastor. No pushing them out the door to feed the poor, mission trips or service. Study and learn HOW to do those things through His Spirit. This is what gets rewarded.

I believe our inheritance and rewards are in 'escrow' in heaven. Everything that is in His plan for us to do on this earth is rewarded and reserved in heaven for us. BUT, if we don't follow that plan, those rewards remain in escrow.........forever. And I believe we will know it in heaven. We will be without a sin nature, and see as He does. So, Divine regret? Somehow I think we will know what we missed out on. We will be able to see the big picture without a sin nature. tear free, happy, joyful, yet somehow we will rightly know what we missed.

I believe it is a tragic thing to lose these rewards, hence all the dire warnings in His word. To the point they look like "loss of salvation."

Saved, yet no rewards to place at His feet. It is no small matter.

What do you think brother?

And another thought. The Church age is faith alone through His word to us. We don't have Him audibly speaking to us. Burning bushes in our path. Resurrecting in front of us. Physically walking with us. Parting the seas. Raining down mana.

We have His word and we have faith in Him through His word to us......I believe that alone is rewarded. I know He still works wonders. But His church takes Him at His word. The previous generations had His word and all the signs.
