I love polls like this. I love the uniqueness of the answers you get. Curiosity has got the best of me. So, this is sort of like the question, "Whether they're dead or alive, who would you sit down and have dinner with?" Except I'm in love with coffee (Though I guess you could make it a different beverage if you don't like coffee) and stuff.

Soo...if you were to pick ANYONE (dead or alive) to sit down with and talk over a cup of coffee, who would you pick and why? Go ahead and pick more than one! My only rule is be more creative than just saying, "I'd have coffee with Jesus!" because I think that's something the majority would want to do. ;)

I'll go ahead and start:

1. My favorite Christian artists. There's some people whose authenticity just shines and you know, this person does not pretend to be super spiritual or better than you because they're famous. They don't pretend they don't have insecurities, and I admire that trait in everyone.

2. Paul the Apostle. In spite of the slight language barrier, it'd be really cool to talk to the person who wrote so many books in the New Testament.

3. Gypsygirl! She could make me some awesome healthy coffee. haha! Plus, she's always up for talking and praying with me. Giving me a kick in the rear when needed. :p

4. Grace-Like-Rain. She has such a sweetness about her! Who wouldn't want to sit down and have a cup of coffee with her?

5. I don't wanna be super sentimental, but I'd have coffee with my mom and my grandpa. I love and miss them. Someday...someday.

Me personally, I don't think I have anyone I could want to sit and have a coffee with because I'm not a coffee guy.;)

James Thurber. Ever read any of his stuff? He had a great way of looking at life.

I just want to talk to my wife from the future. She probably knows more about me than I know about myself. After talking for a while I would find the right time to ask her, "How long will our marriage last or how long did u think it will last?" She would probably smile and will not reply. lol.

I will then tell her I will be back in a sec and then go talk to Lucifer. Lol Lucifer would probably hate my guts. Me and him were once acquaintances. I just wanted to say something to him. I know how he would react and act before I even look at him, sit down, or even talk start to talk to him about what I want to say to him. I will say what I have to say, and then go back to my wife and finish our conversation.

Being the greedy glutton that I am... Let's put less focus on the PEOPLE and more concentration on the FOOD.

COFFEE???!!! BAH!!! I want a whole stinkin' meal. Heck, how about a grand buffet-style multi-day feast just like it's described in the Bible...

And I would want to meet:

1. My whole host of CC friends--too many to name, but here are a few: Holly, Lil, Gypsy, Grace, Catherder, ntw, Zeroturbulence, Donkeyfish, Chandler, DanPhu, Hoss, Pippy, and a whole host of others I know I'm forgetting. There are several "new" posters here who seem pretty cool as well. Shucks, it would be nice just to have a whole CC party and have everyone who wants to come show up.

2. I would love to see my Grammy's smiling face (gone to heaven, '07) and infamous greeting, "Hey there, Toots," waiting for me at the head of the table.

3. (I would like to meet my birth family, the person who found me, and my foster parents. Though there are no records and I have no way of knowing who they are/were, I'd just like to know... Do I look like anyone? Take after anyone? Would I even fit in with my own DNA or would I still stand out like a sore thumb with them, too?)

Man there are SO MANY people I never would have thought of. C.S. Lewis would be amazing to talk to. And definitely Noah. I wanna ask him why he didn't kill of those darn mosquitoes when he had the chance!

lil_christian: You have probably heard the name James Thurber in connection with "The secret life of Walter Mitty" although Thurber is probably spinning in his grave like an atomic powered gyroscope over the movie version. He wrote the original short story. Here's a link to one of his other famous works, "The Catbird Seat."

seoulsearch: I have to agree. Forget coffee, let's go do some damage at Golden Corral or some other place that offers a buffet. I bet we could put them in debt for years with the depredations we would inflict on their hotbar alone. :D And the CC meet-up would be doable, if anyone would organize it. I wouldn't organize it myself as I am a relative newcomer, but some of the old hands could get together... Just a thought.

Lynx (and anyone else who thinks a CC get-together would have been cool--I can't agree more): the mods are free to correct me on this, but years ago, an amazing CC-er actually DID put together a huge, site-wise planned event.

I can't remember all the details but I think it was even going to be a cruise? As I said, anyone who knows better can feel free to correct me. It was going to be something like a 3-day event--they had a thread dedicated to it and everything. The organizers said they had based it all on some polls and other info that gave them an idea of who and how many would come. At one point, I believe a schedule was even posted of the events (praise and worship, live music, etc.) But, and I could be misunderstanding, nearly everyone backed out at the last minute--and it all had to be cancelled. (However, if the big party DID indeed happen and I missed it... someone please tell me. It's TOTALLY possible that I just missed the party!)

I truly admire the people who tried to arrange everything, and I felt badly that they had done SO much work... only to see it all fall through. (I myself had posted that I couldn't go, much as I would have loved to--at the time, I got one holiday week from work a year and had to save that for family obligations.)

I watched the movie and was appauled to know it was only PG when it had PG-13 language in it. -_- Though I thought the movie wasn't bad, I've never read the book. Maybe I should read the book sometime if it's not too bad.
