2 c. of self rising flour, 1/2 tsp. salt, 1 tsp baking powder, 1c. of shortening or lard, whole milk or buttermilk about 1 c.
Shift together first 3 ingredients. Then add shortening and use fork to cut together into flour mixture. Do this until resembles small clumps in flour. Add milk and stir until mixed. Don't over mix. Use wax paper on counter (tip* wet corners so paper does not move). Then add a couple of T. of flour to wax paper and smooth out. Put dough onto wax paper than add a little flour on top. knead 2-3 times, no more or it will make tough biscuits. Then roll out to about 1/2 in. and biscuits out. (* tip if you don't have biscuit cutter use nice round glass). Make sure you dip cutter in flour before cutting. Bake at 425 until golden brown.
